Variable starIts story
60 Tauri is a variable white A-type star about 145 light-years away, embedded in the open cluster of the Hyades, the nearest to Earth and one of the most thoroughly studied in modern astrophysics. The Hyades trace the V-shaped face of the Bull, and 60 Tauri is one of their many diamonds. Its light set out in the late nineteenth century, just as the common motion of the cluster's stars was first being mapped.
