What is HIP 19571
In Eridanus, the celestial river winding through the south, shines a white A-class star whose light set out toward the end of the 18th century, while Mozart was composing his last symphonies. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, it gives off a crisp, clean glow typical of young stars still burning in haste. It follows Eridanus's long and sinuous course —one of the largest constellations— like a small white reflection on the dark waters of the sky.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 19571 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
