Its story
Within the winding waters of the celestial River Eridanus glows a K-type orange giant 847 light-years away. Its light set out around 1179, as Gothic cathedrals were rising across Europe and the abbess Hildegard of Bingen had just died. Cooler than the Sun yet far larger, it offers its amber light to one of the longest constellations in the firmament.
