What is HIP 20465
Within Eridanus the river glows an orange K-type star 501 light years away. Its light set out when Luther was nailing his 95 theses to Wittenberg and lighting the fuse of the Reformation. Cooler and older than the Sun, its warm hue evokes the prolonged twilight of a star that is slowly stretching toward its final giantism.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 20465 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
