Variable starIts story
41 Tauri is a variable blue B-type star within the field of the Bull, the same region of sky that hosts the Pleiades and the Hyades. Its surface burns well above ten thousand kelvin —twice the Sun's— and pulses with slight changes in brightness. From 420 light-years away, its light departed around 1606, when Kepler was still publishing his laws and Galileo was pointing a newly invented spyglass at the sky.
