Variable starIts story
97 Tauri is a white A-type star on the flank of the Bull, slightly variable: its brightness oscillates with the pulse of an unsteady atmosphere. About 167 light-years away, its light left around 1859, when Darwin was publishing On the Origin of Species. That faint intrinsic flicker, almost imperceptible, makes of it a small astronomical machine endlessly repeating a single luminous gesture.
