125 Tauri is a hot blue B-type star, distant and silent, lying more than four hundred light-years away in the constellation of the Bull. Its light set out in the heart of the early modern era, when the great geometers were beginning to unravel the laws of celestial motion. Across this region of sky also shine the Hyades and the Pleiades, two famous clusters among which this discreet star passes almost unnoticed.
Where it is and when to see it
125 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
