Its story
36 Tauri is a spectroscopic binary whose primary, HD 25555, has at different times been catalogued as a K-type bright giant, a G giant and an A-type dwarf —an ambiguous spectral portrait, the signature of a system in which both stars' spectra intermingle—. It lies 1,133 light-years away in Taurus, not far in the sky from the Hyades cluster, though its much greater distance shows the alignment is only a perspective effect.
