35 Eridani burns as a blue B-class star about 414 light-years away, along the long celestial course of the river Eridanus. B stars are young and very hot, with surface temperatures well above the Sun s and relatively brief lives. The light reaching us tonight left in the early seventeenth century, when Kepler was publishing his laws of planetary motion.
