18 Tauri belongs to the Pleiades, the open cluster long known in Mediterranean folklore as the Seven Sisters. It is a B8V star at around 13,700 K, radiating 160 times the Sun's luminosity, and it orbits surrounded by a debris disk —icy material at 137 astronomical units, detected through its infrared excess—. It is part of one of the youngest and best-studied clusters in the sky, 409 light-years away.
