What is 12 Tauri
12 Tauri is a G-type star some 372 light-years away, nested in the Bull s constellation. It shares spectral family with the Sun, though much farther, and at magnitude 5.55 sits at the edge of unaided visibility. Taurus holds in its domains the Hyades and the Pleiades, two famed clusters; amid that brilliant landscape this yellow Sun-like cousin slips by almost unnoticed but keeps its characteristic golden tone.

12 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
