Hot blue starIts story
55 Arietis is a hot blue B-type star shining at more than a thousand light-years within the ram, the first zodiacal constellation by classical convention. Its surface comfortably exceeds ten thousand degrees, and its energetic light places it among the massive stars of short life and spectacular ending. It marks a cardinal point of the ancient vernal equinox, now shifted by precession toward Pisces.
