Cool red starIts story
In the winding river Eridanus burns a cold ember at 456.2 light years. Its light left around 1569, when Gerardus Mercator unveiled his celebrated cartographic projection that would forever change ocean navigation. It is a red class M star, a temperate surface that contrasts with the colossal calm of its anatomy: huge, slow, deeply garnet.
