What is HIP 118092
In southern Tucana, where Bayer placed the Small Magellanic Cloud, shines this white A-type star at 215 light-years. Its light set out around 1810, the year Hidalgo cried the «Grito de Dolores» in Mexico and independence movements were sweeping through Latin America. It is an electric surface, far hotter than the Sun, painted in vivid white.

HIP 118092 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
