Cool red starIts story
63 Pegasi is an M-type red giant in the winged horse, 419 light-years away. Its cool surface —barely above 3,500 degrees— gives it an unmistakable reddish tone. Pegasus is one of the great squares of the northern autumn, and 63 brings a slow flame among the brighter stars that outline the horse's silhouette. A deep ember within one of the most recognizable horses of the sky.
