What is Helvetios
Helvetios, in Pegasus, is a Sun-like star, nearly a twin in G spectral class and only 51 light-years away. She was named in 2015 in tribute to the Helvetii, the Celtic peoples who inhabited present-day Switzerland, in recognition of the Geneva team that discovered around her the first extrasolar planet orbiting a solar-type star. A pinprick of light that changed humanity's idea of cosmic solitude.
Where it is and when to see it
Helvetios lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
