Hot blue starIts story
64 Pegasi is a hot blue B-type star around 830 light-years away, anchored in the great square of Pegasus that frames the autumn sky. Its blue-white glow betrays a very high surface temperature and a swift, intense, cosmically brief stellar life. The light arriving tonight set out when the first Gothic cathedrals were being raised and people still debated whether the Earth stood still at the centre of the cosmos.
