What is Rho 1 Cepheus
Rho-1 Cephei is a visual double at 206 light-years: two blue-white stars, the primary classified as A2m, separated as of 2014 by barely 0.29 arcseconds. Their angular closeness makes them a challenge even for well-resolving telescopes, a tight pair shining in regal Cepheus, near the constellations that frame the northern celestial pole.
Where it is and when to see it
Rho 1 Cepheus lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
