What is HIP 109466

Another orange K-type star shines in Aquarius at about 333 light-years. Its light set out around 1693, when Newton had already published the Principia and Europe was beginning to understand the sky in terms of forces and universal laws. Cooler and more golden than the Sun, it offers that warm glow, almost like a tempered forge, typical of giants that have left their youth behind and move calmly through the final stages of their lives.

HIP 109466 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
