Cool red starIts story
2 Pegasi is an aging red giant of class M1 on the asymptotic branch —its core hydrogen long spent, the star now swells toward its final acts. Its sphere spans about fifty-five solar radii and pours out more than six hundred times the Sun's luminosity, glowing deep orange 394 light-years away. The light reaching us tonight left while the first Florentine seeds of the Renaissance had yet to bloom.
