Hot blue in the small Delphinus, some 1,348 light-years away. Its light set off toward us when the Byzantine Empire was securing Constantinople and Greek manuscripts were being copied in its scriptoria. A blue flash leaping between the stellar waves of the dolphin, crossing thirteen centuries only to end as a minute spark above our heads.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 101909 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
