Its surface burns above ten thousand degrees, placing it among the hottest suns within reach of the unaided eye on a dark night. It shares the same patch of sky as the Dumbbell Nebula, one of the most photographed planetary nebulae in the northern hemisphere.

28 Vulpecula lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August, when it culminates around midnight.
