28 Vulpeculae is a blue B-type star about 523 light-years away, set in the Little Fox close to its neighbour 29. Its surface burns above ten thousand degrees, placing it among the hottest suns within reach of the unaided eye on a dark night. It shares the same patch of sky as the Dumbbell Nebula, one of the most photographed planetary nebulae in the northern hemisphere.
