What is Omicron Capricorni
Omicron Capricorni is a white A-type star about 217 light-years away in the zodiacal constellation of the Sea-Goat —that hybrid creature, half goat half fish, that the Babylonians already called Suḫur-Maš. Capricorn is among the faintest zodiacal figures, making it hard to trace under urban skies, but this star supplies one of its defined points along the outline of the hybrid's body. Its light set out for Earth when Philip II still ruled in Castile.

Omicron Capricorni lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
