Binary systemIts story
Gamma Coronae Australis is one of the most beautiful visual binaries in the southern sky: two near-twin yellow-white stars orbiting each other in a dance with a period of around 120 years. Through a modest telescope they part like two pearls of equal size. At just 58 light years away, they are close neighbours in the small Southern Crown, the crown fallen at the feet of Sagittarius.
