What is 16 Vulpecula
16 Vulpeculae inhabits the small constellation Vulpecula, the Fox, drawn in the seventeenth century between Cygnus and Sagitta. It is a white-yellow F-class star, slightly hotter and faster-evolving than the Sun, set about two hundred and twenty light-years away. Its patch of sky is modest but rich: nearby lies the famous Dumbbell Nebula, one of the most photographed objects in the deep sky.

16 Vulpecula lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August, when it culminates around midnight.
