Its story
16 Cygni is a triple system just 69 light-years away from Earth, in the constellation of the Swan. Its two main components —A and B— are near-exact twins of our own Sun, with masses of 1.08 and 1.04 solar and ages of around 7 billion years each. In 1996 a giant planet was discovered orbiting 16 Cygni B: the first highly eccentric Jupiter ever found in a binary system, a milestone in showing that planetary architectures can differ sharply from our own.
