Its story
An orange K-type giant shines in Cetus, the celestial whale, at about 542 light-years. Its light began its journey around 1484, when less than a decade remained before Columbus s voyages would open a new map of the world. Cooler than the Sun yet far more extended, it casts a warm, restful glow, typical of stars that have already traveled most of their lives.
