Its story

Blue-white and hot, a B-type star in Sagittarius 228 light-years away. Its light departed around 1798, during Napoleon's Egyptian campaign that opened Champollion's road to the Rosetta Stone. B stars like this are rare and short-lived —they burn so fast they barely last a few hundred million years.
