Its story
Kappa-2 Sagittarii is a visual binary 312 light-years away, two white A-type stars orbiting a common centre over a period of about 700 years. Its components are separated by two arc-seconds with an orbital eccentricity of 0.4, a serene couple moving in slow motion against the backdrop of the Milky Way, in the richest region of the Sagittarius sky. The primary alone radiates some 38 times the Sun's light from a surface burning near 7,990 K.
