Its story
5 Vulpeculae is a young white star, only a few million years old, around which exocomets have been detected: icy bodies falling inwards and leaving fleeting chemical signatures in its spectrum. It lies inside Collinder 399, a loose stellar swarm known as the Coathanger for its unmistakable outline. Its light takes some two hundred and forty years to reach us.
