What is HIP 94556

From the Southern Crown, some 298 light-years away, comes the light of this yellow type G star, similar in colour to the Sun. It set out around 1728, when James Bradley discovered stellar aberration and at last proved beyond doubt that the Earth moves. Slightly larger and more luminous than our own star, it glows golden over the small southern crown —a distant echo of our everyday sun.

HIP 94556 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
