It is an Alpha² Canum Venaticorum variable: its light wavers not from pulsations but because its surface carries patches of uneven chemical composition that rotate along with it. With each turn, the star shows us a different face and, with it, a faintly shifting brightness.

19 Lyrae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July, when it culminates around midnight.
