What is Zeta 1 Lyrae
Zeta-1 Lyrae forms, with its companion Zeta-2, one of the Lyre's most celebrated optical pairs —resolvable to the naked eye under dark skies. It is a white A-type star some 156 light-years away, close in the sky to Vega, the dazzling alpha of the constellation. Its position makes it a classic visual benchmark for those gauging the sharpness of their sight on a summer night.

Zeta 1 Lyrae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is July: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
