Its story

Toward the bow of Sagittarius gleams a yellow G-type star, close sibling of the Sun: barely forty-three light-years lie between us. Its light departed when a Viking lander was settling on Mars and sending back the first photographs from its surface. Warm and familiar, it looks like a household fire at the edge of the cosmic garden. To see it tonight is to recall the day humanity finally touched another world, even if with metal hands.
