In Hercules, the vast constellation of the boreal summer, a white A-class star shines some six hundred and forty-seven light years away. The light reaching us today left the star in the mid-fourteenth century, when the Black Death was sweeping Europe and halving entire populations. Its surface, far hotter than the Sun's, lends it the cool, clean glow characteristic of its type.

HIP 91118 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky.
