In Ophiuchus, the bearer of the serpent, shines a yellow, variable beacon, an elder sister of the Sun that breathes light to her own rhythm. Its glow has reached us from nearly 800 years ago: it set out around 1238, when the Mongols sacked Vladimir and the Sultanate of Granada was founded. A restless candle pinned to summer's sky.
