Sabik
Eta
Its story
Sabik inhabits the body of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer, a white A-type star relatively nearby at 88 light-years. Its name derives from the Arabic «As-Sabiq», «the preceding one». Ophiuchus is the thirteenth zodiacal figure the Sun crosses each year, though Western astrology has traditionally ignored it. Sabik is one of only a few stars listed by name in U.S. Navy celestial navigation tables, alongside a select handful of luminaries used to find one's bearings at night.
