Its story

Kappa Ophiuchi is an orange giant resting on the shoulder of the Serpent Bearer, some ninety-one light-years away from us. Its brightness shifts with discretion, as if hesitating between two shades of the same coppery hue. It belongs to a generation of evolved stars that have already left the main sequence and are quietly preparing, in no apparent hurry, for the final phases of stellar life. Its radius comfortably exceeds the Sun's, a swollen profile that announces a still peaceful old age.
