15 Sagittarii is a blue B-type star in the very heart of Sagittarius, the direction in which the Galaxy's centre itself lies. Its surroundings form one of the densest regions of the sky: dark dust clouds, young star clusters and the spiral furnaces that feed the Milky Way. Its light pours out with the clean ultraviolet fury that only B and O suns know how to compose.
Where it is and when to see it
15 Sagittarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is June: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
