Omega Draco
What is Omega Draco
Omega Draconis glides along the Dragon's spirals, that long constellation coiled around the northern celestial pole. It is an F-type star some 75 light-years away, slightly hotter and whiter than the Sun, near enough to be studied in detail. It dwells in a region of sky that never sets for northern observers, keeping silent watch through every night of the year.
Where it is and when to see it
Omega Draco lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is February: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
