It lives 1,517 light-years away: its light departed when the Romans were definitively abandoning Britannia under Anglo-Saxon pressure. A B-type star, young and massive, one of those blue embers that barely reach a few million years of life.

HIP 85889 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky.
