Its story
Ophiuchus, the serpent-bearer, hosts this orange K-type star 723 light-years away. Its light set out around 1303, when Marco Polo was dictating in Genoa the manuscript that would become the Book of Marvels. The entire mental geography of the Renaissance was built while these photons crossed the night; they arrive now at magnitude 5.77, a cool ember hung in the summer sky.
