What is HIP 84183
A yellow-white F-type star shines in Draco, the circumpolar dragon, at about 140 light-years. Its light set out around 1885, while the first motor cars were beginning to circulate and electricity was reaching the great European cities. Hotter and brighter than the Sun, it offers that almost ivory tone of stars somewhat more energetic than our own, suspended near the northern celestial pole.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 84183 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
