Its story
In Ara, the southern altar, a white A-type star shines at about 169 light-years. Its light set out around 1857, while the first transatlantic cables were being laid that would soon connect Europe and the Americas with messages in mere minutes. Hotter and brighter than the Sun, its surface hovers around 9000 degrees and emits a pure, almost crystalline white glow over the silent geometry of the southern sky.
