What is HIP 81437
Also in Draco, but in a warmer key, rests an orange K-type star about 271 light-years away. Its light began traveling around 1755, the year Lisbon was leveled by the great earthquake and Enlightenment Europe first measured the planet's inner fury. Cooler than the Sun, it shines with a coppery pulse, almost like an old lamp submerged in dark oil.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 81437 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
