Within the zodiacal sprawl of Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, it pulses with the orange glow of a K-type star, about 407 light years away. Its light began its way around 1619, when Kepler published his third law of planetary motion and the Thirty Years' War was just beginning. Cooler than the Sun yet wrapped in a vast calm, its golden gleam seems to hold the memory of that European intellectual spring. A gentle, ancient light following its course unhurried.
