What is Tau 7 Serpens
Tau-7 Serpentis is a white A-type star at one hundred and seventy-three light-years, one of the many pieces composing the divided body of the Serpent. It belongs to Serpens Caput, the half the ancients imagined as the reptile's head held by the healer Ophiuchus. Its cold, young light slips between constellations of medical symbolism, in a region where myth and sky entwine.
Where it is and when to see it
Tau 7 Serpens lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
