A pure white light hangs in Lupus, deep in the southern sky. It belongs to class A: hot surfaces and a clean color reminiscent of a polished blade. The photon arriving now left 392 years ago, when Newton was still a child in Woolsthorpe and calculus had yet to be born. Anonymous over the Wolf, it never needed an ancient name to keep shining.

HIP 75501 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
