Titawin is a yellowish star 44 light-years from the Earth, set in the constellation Andromeda, almost on the doorstep of the Solar System in cosmic terms. Its name, assigned by the International Astronomical Union in a modern initiative, honours the Moroccan city of Tetouan and the Andalusi astronomical heritage that was preserved on the other side of the strait. At least four confirmed planets orbit around it, discovered between the late twentieth century and the early twenty-first: one of the first multi-planet systems ever confirmed beyond the Sun.
Where it is and when to see it
Titawin lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November, when it culminates around midnight.

- From New York it culminates about 89° above the horizon.
- From Sydney it culminates about 15° above the horizon.
It can be seen from anywhere north of 49° S.
It ranks no. 10 in brightness among the 81 stars of Andromeda in our catalogue. To find it, start from Alpheratz, the brightest: it lies about 22° away (a fist at arm's length covers about 10°).
