Its story

Omicron Lupi is a blue-white B-type star some 404 light-years away, one more young massive sun within the Scorpius-Centaurus association. Despite that distance, its raw light reaches the Earth at magnitude 4.3, betraying a luminosity several hundred times that of the Sun. It is nuclear energy turned into blue —an extravagant, brief flare on a cosmic timescale.
